De Steadicam Jr. is het in de praktijk best werkende stabilisatiesysteem voor alle camcorders met opengeklapt LCD Scherm. Ideaal voor Sony A1, HC1, HC3. De Global-DVC STEADICAM JR heeft dus in tegenstelling tot de eerdere versie geen LCD monitor. Ideaal dus voor vrijwel alle camera's met opengeklapte LCD schermpjes. Heeft u een beschadigde Steadicam JR of is hij gebroken door een productie fout ? Zo rond 1997 is er namelijk een grote partij Steadicam Jr's afgeleverd door de inmiddels verdwenen importeur en inmiddels ook overgenomen oorspronkelijke fabrikant uit Hollywood, waarbij de plastic behuizing openscheurde van de middelste korte arm. Hiertoe hebben wij nu een vervangende behuizing. Reparatie hiervan is echter kostbaar vanwege een zeer gecompliceerde arbeid en de tijd die dit in beslag neemt. Een 'doe het zelf set' hebben wij beperkt op voorraad met engelse instructies. Wordt uitsluitend verkocht aan gespecialiseerde technische specialisten met uitvoerige Engelse gebruiksaanwijzing.

Some of the most memorable--the Philadelphia Art Museum steps scene in Rocky, the Big Wheel shots in The Shining--were done by the inventor himself, Garrett Brown. Jan van der Meer (Global-DVC) is Steadicam JR specialist trainer, dealer and has a maintenance, repair center.
Structurally, the Steadicam JR is deceptively simple: a camera platform, a gimbal handle, a flat screen monitor and two folding arms. The secret of the Steadicam JR's patented stabilization concept is in its ingenious system of weights and balances which places the center of gravity within its free-floating, inter-gimbaled handle assembly. What all this means is, while you may shake or rock or turn, the camera will remain absolutely steady. With the Steadicam JR, you can take shots at "impossible" angles, above, below or even behind you. You simply can't get that with any other video product. Once you've mastered the Steadicam JR, there's no limit to your freedom to create dramatic moving shots.

• Fluid Low Friction Gimbal
The fluid low friction Gimbal reduces rotary jarring. The gimbal, located at the top of the handle, is the most sophisticated engineering in the JR, intercepting unwanted rotation before it reaches the camera.• Fingertip Control
Spreads the weight of the camera, increasing the resistance of the rig to unwanted Tilt and Roll and pulling the center of gravity into your hands; actually, fingertips!• Follow the Action
Instead of using an articulated arm to follow the action and to support the weight of the rig, the JR uses the more sophisticated, but less dictable human arm.• Weight Adjustment
In order to isolate the camera from rotation, the Steadicam JR has to be precisely balanced so that the camera comes to rest upright, with the horizon horizontal, with proper headroom for the shot; yet without so much bottom weight that it rocks like a pendulum. Different size lead weights are supplied to allow the operator to balance the system for a particular camera.• Easy Conversion
The JR can be operated in three different modes:
- "Flying" Steadicam Rig:
The reason it was invented in the first place. Allows the operator to achieve smooth walking, jogging, skating, bicycling or even climbing stairs and the picture won't shake.- Shoulder Mount:
Folding up from the bottom arm and folding out a "Whale's Tail" (a small, "Y"-shaped attachment) converts the JR into a shoulder mount. Perfect when you want to shoot from the audience or use the camera's zoom lens.- Tripod Mount:
If both arms are folded flat, - folds and stores in a layer 2" high beneath your camcorder - the JR attaches to a tripod with standard screws.In all positions, the external viewscreen is still useable; by allowing the operator to look away from the viewfinder, adding mass, and spreading out the rig's overall mass, the JR gives the operator shots significantly more stable than similar shots from the same camera without the stabilizer.

You don't need to be an expert camera operator to operate the JR. The JR comes with a thorough instructional video. It will take several hours to set up and get comfortable with the rig. Then practice, practice, practice.
